Another post from my visit to our neighbouring country, Brunei Darussalam.
When I was in Brunei, I spotted quite a number of this particular fast food shop - with a Bee as its mascot. I was feeling curious to what it was, or rather what it served. They probably had more of this Jollibee branches than McDonalds! For one of the meals, I made sure that I went to check out the restaurant!
The view of the Jollibee fast-food restaurant in Brunei Darussalam.
The Jollibee is amongst the 30 largest corporations in the Philippines, and in fact, it is a component of the Philippines Stock Exchange (PSE). The Jollibee Foods Corporation is pretty huge; it has a market capitalization of about 72 billion pesos, which is an impressive USD$ 6billion!!! Jollibee is a phenomenal success story: what began as a two-branch ice cream parlor in 1975 offering hot meals and sandwiches became incorporated in 1978 with seven outlets to explore the possibilities of a hamburger concept.
They have the Chicken meals, Jolly meals, Noodle meals too. Quite some fancy selection to cater to all in the family. Today, Jollibee has over 1,800 shops worldwide, with branches in 9 countries, mostly in Asia and a large chain in the USA. Yes, they have MILO in Brunei too =P
You can order your meal to come in a burger, or with chicken, or with noodles, or with rice. It feels like eating it in a local 'economy rice' kopitiam, but with McDonalds' burgers! I ordered the burger + chicken meal, and it costs about the same as what you would be paying for a McChicken Deluxe meal at McDonalds. But McDs is just the burger, fries and drink. At Jollibee, you get the burger, fries, drink as well as 2 pieces of chicken!
If you like fast food as much as I do, then I believe you'll love going to Jollibee!!! If you were to go to Brunei, or even the Philippines or Taiwan for the matter, do check out this Jollibee fast food chain!!
