Malaysia picked up a handsome 3-0 win over arch rivals Indonesia in the first-leg of the final in the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championships at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

Mohd Safee Sali was the toast scoring a brace in the 60th and 73rd minutes while substitute Mohd Ashaari Shamsuddin scored the other goal in the 67th minute to give Malaysia a comfortable three-goal cushion for the second-leg final at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Malaysia had lost to Indonesia in the opening Group A match 1-5 in Jakarta on Dec 1. Since the defeat the Malaysians have picked up momentum going three games undefeated - holding three-time winners Thailand (0-0), thrashing Laos (5-1) and knocking out defending champions Vietnam 2-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals last week.

Malaysia have never won the AFF series since the inaugural meet held in Singapore in 1996. They made the final in 1996 but lost to Thailand 0-1.

Meanwhile..... during the game, or rather, right after the game... Malaysia appeared on the trending Twitter hashtags. #MalaysiaCheatLaser =)

Am sure the Indonesian fans got something up their sleeves this Wed, maybe worse than a laser. But whatever it is, my only hope is that when the national anthem is played please show respect by keeping quiet.

whats the problem?
all 3 goals dat malaysia gained not scored while the laser is being used..
so wat? the incident jz happened twice..n each time it happened, it’s not lead to any goal, is it?
n futhermore, laser usage is not new thing in football..in europe lot similar cases happen.
That Losers cant accept? who care?

Cheaters or not, we still won by 3-0.

I think the scoreline speaks for itself.

Cheaters? I think not. the goals were scored based on pure skill. And who's to say the other side didn't partake in the same act?
They used lasers as well, clearly aimed towards our Keeper during the 2nd leg of the AFF final! Yet, he wasn't fazed and caught at least 8 goals!
It's funny how they refuse to acknowledge the fact that they used lasers as well. Losing is losing, they should accept it.
