Some people have said that since the increase in fuel price last month, building material costs have seen an increase as well, some even as high as 10-15% due to various transportation factors and so on. To further add on to that, the ongoing labour shortage is also very quickly becoming a major problem to the construction sector - and ultimately, it causes a major slowdown in all construction progress.

Anyways, I believe that there will be some challenges to the property sector - at least from now til the end of the month when the Budget 2014 is being announced. The increase in costs has been a major factor - and take that with the labour issue, and then from the general inflation concerns... and even the potential tightening policies would discourage local and foreign buyers from investing in the property market.

Setia Walk. =)

But I have mentioned before - in this type of situation, the only way out is to not stop... Remember, when you decide to stop investing in properties now, 6 months later, or 1 year later - you will surely regret for the same property would have shot up so much in terms of its pricing. The usual hotspots are still about the same - including Klang Valley, Penang... and well, even the southern side of Nusajaya and the Iskandar region. The prices will still be on the upward trend - especially when our ringgit is weakening, the buyers would be even more keen on our properties...

So, the next time someone tells you that the property sector is facing challenges - you now know what type of challenges there will be. And perhaps, how to counter them.
